Not the powder in question... although I think Gnoahh and I bought up much of the bulk 4759 still on the market when they discontinued it..
I curse Hodgdon for that decision every time I think of that powder...
I do a lot of loading for use by kids, via Scouts, every hunting season...
I have switched over to IMR 4198 and RL 7 for that kind of service... with my go to charge being 30 grains ( no filler) for every thing from the 243
up thru my 338/06... and 444 Marlin... it has worked well overall with charges as low as 15 grains, but I find between 20 to 25 grains work fine also..
especially in 308 length cases....
it is not uncommon for me to be in the hunting fields with a load of 30 grains of 4198, in cartridges from the 243 to 06....
in the 06, the old Speer Flat Nose 150 grain is exceedingly accurate in that rifle., and is a good 200 to250 yrd load for deer, with the sites set for 2.5 to 3.5 inches high at 100 yds....
my last 8 pound containers of SR 4759 were bought at $110.00 each. If I would have had a clue they were discontinuing it, I'd have bought a lot more than just the 32 lbs I picked up....it was a very favorite of mine...and still is...
