Tipping the captain?
Well, the Captain probably gets up early to make sure all is in order, and he probably stays long after you've gone back to your motel/hotel.
So if he's up there dozing by the wheel, I think it would be pretty bad form to sneak up and tip him over. Besides, he might fall in the water.
Leave the tipping pranks for farm boys in Iowa.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

I typically do not tip the captain except like river charters where the mate and captain are on in the same. Typically i tip 20% but depends on the guy. I have had a killer day on a salmon/steelhead trip once and dropped a $50 in the captains palm (was 50% of my cost)at the days end, did same same on a trip where we didnt land a fish one but the guy busted his balls trying
