I'd like to change the balance point of a Benelli M2 20 ga. about 4" forward. What's the slick way to accomplish this modification? I believe that I recall some skeet shooters use to add lead tape of some sort to the fore end of their shotguns but can't remember what or how. Any experience with this mod would be appreciated.

Thanks, RS

Lead tape in the underside of the forearm works, but using a good deal of it will only get you a couple of inches of balance point change.

They sell it for golf clubs, you can find it on amazon, I put some on my ultra light to get it to balance more correctly - but Iā€™m going to go. Back to a M2 myself.

BUT to get 4ā€ forward you will need a lot more than what you will get from lead tape, for that much shift Iā€™d put an extension on the magazine cap and put the weight in there.

I think there are weighted magazine caps for that. I have also seen steel plugs for inside the magazine tube that replaces the usual plastic plug that limit magazine capacity.

I looked at Briley's website and ordered a weighted fore end cap of their manufacture. Talked to a tech and he thought that the standard 6oz. weight would be just about right. They offer add-on weights if that doesn't change the balance point sufficiently.

Most guns that don't go bang stay front because the shells never move down the tube šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Just be sure not to add too much weight, weighing down an inertia gun can cause cycling issues

How much is too much?

Stoeger used to sell a recoil reducer for the buttstock for the m3000 that was 13 oz.
