I'm ready to move. After 74 years here in northern NV the Californians have run me out. I need somewhere that's inexpensive, has a decent climate, and has some bigger fishing lakes in close proximity. Bird hunting is also a requirement.

Your informed suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help you there Bruce.

Too many of the "good places" are turning left quickly.

Down south? Ha, that "decent climate" rules that place out.

Well, many influential Europeans are buying homes in Portugal. It is at Western end of EU, therefore, it will probably be nice place to live if SHTF in rest of Europe. You can look into climate and living standard, but I bet it is quite nice. European elites are far from stupid, therefore, what they choose probably represents a nice option.

I'm seriously looking at Tennessee - very good on 2A, no income tax, Republican government that hasn't changed in decades and very good home prices outside of the big cities. Crime is low in the small towns (only place I'd live btw) and from what I've read about availability and quality of medical care, it's very good.

I know nothing about hunting/fishing opportunities there.

I agree, but too far east, and you need to own, lease, or trespass to hunt.

Reasonably priced? Lake side? Nice weather?

Not asking for much, are you?

I’m fresh out of suggestions.

Of those 3, I’d pick Oklahoma.

Actually, there are many state and federal parks for hunting. We made the same type of decision you are now making five years ago. We settled on Soddy Daisy, TN. Located in the foothills, has one of the best bass fishing lakes in the US and excellent hunting for deer, turkey and hogs. Tow hours from the Smokies and centrally located to outstanding hospitals and larger city's like: 30 minutes to Chattanooga, 2 hours to Atlanta, Nashville, and Knoxville. We have a large elderly population and home prices are good. I can't do anything about being too far East. Good luck to you.

Wolf Point, Montana.

Big lake about 40 miles away, a river, premo upland bird and big game hunting, cheap houses and you couldn't ask for nicer weather.

No Walmarts, only one fast food joint and a chitty old grocery store. Hospital stuff might also be an issue.
