See any blue grouse on that trek?

I hunt them about 1,000 feet below you.

No sir, it was kinda windy that day and we didn't see anything moving on the way up/down. I'm trying to arrange to go back later this year or next year. Galena Falls was pretty neat, I want to make a detour with my camera for that part of the mountain next time.

You're right about Jag's buck, and Claytie's trophy room which does blow your mind. His wife, Modesta is one of the most accomplished female wild sheep hunters in the world and a very friendly, classy lady. She still drives a 'Cruiser.

I have tried several times but only succeeded twice in all the time I've been hunting out there. Watched a couple of mexican guys in Sonora once and it was absolutely amazing how they could do it. I'm not very good because I don't have the patience for it.

You need to give it more of a chance.

You hunt sand. Run your pastures in the evening and lay down fresh tire tracks, can even pull a drag. Come morning run those same tracks, sun behind you, glassing as you go. Any good buck tracks crossing your tire tracks, Mark them as you go. Glass all morning until you think everything is bedded, then go back to those tracks mid day and get after it. Jump them once you have a chance, after that it’s a bitch. You better take advantage of that first opportunity.

Sounds like a plan to me. I still have an old drag that you smooth out a baseball field with. That oughta do it....drag it behind a Ranger then check next day. Good idea. How far do they generally go from water? No telling?
