Talked with him this morning.
Didnt get hit.

The geography around here between the Cumberland and Tennessee river system is kinda unique in ways.
Goes up thru land between the lakes as high ground between the 2 rivers and kinda defines the watersheds down thru the state.
And that storm front yesterday kinda tracked from NNW to SSE along the watershed slope side of the Tn river it seems.

I was watching the radar driving SE on 1 24 to that gun show in Manchester starting around 915 am.
Rain storms along my route but 40 to 60 west along the track of that storm system it looked real bad.

Wasnt that bad along the cumberland side around here.

The EBS system was having alerts on TV late afternoon and thru the evening when I got back home.
Was hearing distant long rolling thunder to the Wsw thruout the afternoon when I got back.
People somewhere getting hit hard.

Me and slumlord will call each other at times during storms
Bout 18 miles between us and talk track a storm so to speak.
Image it off radar as its going down.

It is sad people lost their lives and property damage from it all.

I was in Montgomery County back in 2010 when the Cumberland River flooded , the worst flood in 80 years . It came up really high in Clarksville , flooded Riverside Drive and downtown .

It was epic here in Clarkvegas.
Had to do alot of alternate routes to get around town.
Same flood that hit nashville and the BPS fish tank.

I can only imagine what people have dealt with along the Mississippi River system over the ages.
Waaaay worse than around here.

Just the 7.62x39 ammo I traded 9mm and M855 for.
Couldnt even find a AK sling.
Only 150 tables , was hoping to see a different areas selection.
Basically not much outta the norm and probably 65 70% same dudes selling their also out of the ones I normally see.

A show out of the normal ones I go too. I wont attend this one again.

Crazy, was at Smyrna this week, requested my travel even knowing I was leaving for vacation. Flew back Wed after weather delays flying into storm on PA side. I’m limited service since camping but seems I dodged a bullet. Probably would’ve been grounded in Smyrna if nothing else. Prayers for those with missing family. I can’t imagine that.

I got a couple of pics from a FTX on Ft Campbell earlier today. The bivouac area was under about a foot of water. My reply was "That's good training."

We’re intact

Creek did kiss the bank top here, it takes 10” of rain in 2-3 hours to cause me probs. We got about 8” here.

I have corrected the creek channel several times last few years here. Tripled the width of the channel and levied up the edge on our yard side. It’s helped.

All the loss of life was just west of us about 25 miles as the crow flies.

Last count 22 dead
50+ still missing

Babies ripped from parent’s arms, people in vehicles trying escape washed away.

That’s terrible stuff, NC got hit 5 years back and through a series of calamities I drove into it blind. Even took BILs family out to eat. Road was out in a low spot and he tried driving through then back tracked. College girl died the same spot just after, washed away in vehicle. I hadn’t heard of that before. Gotta be a rough way out.

Farm I hunted in NC we did the same with a creek. Took a few years but it was straightened through the property and cut in 8’. State frowns on it but waters gotta flow somehow. Dried creek most of the time. Place in PA was built on edge of cliffs with systems designed for extreme water issues, probably a few $100k. Crazy stuff like gutters running behind stone siding into central collection system below floating driveways. Aging out now 50 years later. Replacing more every year and it’s adding up.

Glad I’m not downhill though. Far side, the creek runs under the houses before emerging at confluence with gorge. No clue how that works when we get floods. Know there’s access doors in cellars and big stocked trout swim under. Bunch of tiered I beams hold trees back somewhat.
