Hello all, I recently purchased a model 37 single shot 20 gauge non red letter. It's a sweet handling little thing, but I can't help but wonder if they ever came with an optional accessory rifle barrel or has anyone attempted to convert one ? From what I can see the forearm and firing pin could be potential hang ups. Any input appreciated! Thanks in advance

I have never heard of that. I do not think they were built to take that kind of pressure but I could be wrong about that.

HIGHGEARED1: I am a long time admirer and user of the Winchester Model 37's.
I have owned and shot them in 12, 16, 20 & 410 gauges.
Currently I am down to just one Model 37 and it is an unfired 16 gauge.
I wish I had kept them all but alas the temptations of "profit" led me to let loose of the others.
I also doubt the Model 37 was built to withstand centerfire cartridge pressure?
And it seems to me the cost of building a barrel to fit the Model 37 action would make the effort quite expensive in todays world.
Long live the Winchester Model 37.

Alternatively, have you consider shotgun barrel inserts?

I have a .45-70 insert for my M37 12ga that I point & plink cast bullets at <1000 fps with.

Most of their inserts are currently out of stock but when they restock their inventory, I'll probably purchase one for my M37 20ga. Their catalog list a few different cartridges for the 20 ga. .38 Special squib loads would be as powerful as I would go though.
