I have a Ruger PC-9 and a JR carbine, both in 9mm. If I could only have one it would be the Ruger…takes down easily for cleaning or storage or transport and very accurate. It can be configured to accept Glock magazines with the included adapter. Built in rails on both guns make putting a low powered scope or red dot very simple. They’re really fun to shoot. My Ruger has the conventional stock.

I've got this one: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...dern-sporting-rifle-171-rounds/p/1621537 I've shot 115-135 gr bullets in it and have had zero problems. With a 1-4x scope it, it's surprisingly accurate. I put in the Glock magazine adapter in and use Magpul and Glock mags, no problems at all. With a 33 round mag full and the all steel bolt in the gun, it has plenty of heft.

I recently bought a consignment Ruger PC-9 and am well pleased with it. I went with the Magpul Glock mags and it is dead reliable and pretty darn accurate with 124 gr ball. I mounted a Leupold Freedom 1x34 RDS on it and I am also pleased with the sight/mount. The combo will replace an AR for house duty. I just need to sort out a light.

Modlite is on another level and I'm a diehard Surefire user from way back.
I have a Sig MPX 9 mm and a CZ scorpion Evo3 which I just recently purchased 9 mm. I had to put about 400 bucks into the Evo3 to get it to where I like it may be a little bit more I have to add it up. Both are over your price range but they are excellent platforms.
Keltec if you want something small and compact. Mine was very reliable and actually very accurate too. Never hiccuped once. Gave it to one of my nephews. It’s still going.
