Not officially autumn yet but the damn elk were bugling all night long; making it hard to sleep. I kept dreaming about elk hunting. Six bulls in the field this morning. Life is tough in the country. GD

I sorta hope so - and I own a motorcycle.
I don't mind riding in chilly temps but I'm ready for real campfires, hoodies, and crunchy leaves.

The leaves are starting to turn here and the forecast is calling for high temps in the mid 60's for the next few days so yeah, fall is in the air.

My wife actually had windows open overnight instead of blasting the AC.
4 out of 5 Great Lakes prefer Michigan.

Thanks, Glad to hear it. Of the 1.8 million acres of wildland burned in this state thus far, only 1 million is still roaring out of control. We were looking forward to a little break in the action. A friend sent a picture of some firefighters in the chow line for breakfast near Tahoe on this morning. Bundled up in hoodies and coats, some eating with gloves on, 34 degrees. What a year.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Last couple of days temps have been somewhat bearable here. Just got a message from a buddy of mine, we’re going to look over a deer hunting spot tomorrow. Deer season here opens in a couple of weeks. He’s got a gator tag and that opens September 11… things are looking up.

Same here in the EasternAZ mtns. Have small bulls hanging with the cows right now, bugling all night long. this pic was a few mornings ago. The elk normally start the rut about Labor Day. It's regulated by shortening day length. It will start regardless of temperature but the temperature will dictate how they handle it. When it's hot, they will still bugle but might do it only at night or in thick timber. I know that if you stick an arrow in one when it's 90F, you'd better have a pickup load of ice if you want to save the meat.
