Hungry Horse,
I have Several, Family Members Traveling, Hunting, and even Living through out the Western States, like Many others here.

That sight you posted simplified things for me, looking up the Fire info.!
Not that it's impossible to look up, BUT, saying Thanks and Showing Appreciation, is How we were raised!
It goes a long way in life in General!

Something missing from today's culture, that people like us aren't privy too!

I get a few photos from time to time from Grand County, Co. The monsoons they have been getting are sending tons of ash and sediment into the local waters. Pretty incredible to see , but also really depressing. The local economy is going to be trashed this year from that E.troublesome fire. I would imagine the areas of national forest and wilderness untouched by that fire will be hunted hard this coming season. I keep getting conflicting reports but sound like much of the forest that was burned is still off limits! A huge chunk of real estate!

Labor day is still ahead. Plenty of time for new fires. My group is the white river herd so we already discussed plans b and c for fire or weather. Getting everyone to an unfamiliar place is the catch. But I NEVER depend on anyone else for the camper and food

I have a travel advisory question,
I'll be heading towards the Meeker Colorado area on Wednesday for my ML elk hunt, driving through Laramie Wyoming and I was planning to take Hwy 230 south to Hwy 127/125 to Hwy 40 west towards Meeker with the Morgan Creek fire north of Steam Boat Springs, will I be driving into this mess going that route or is it advisable to just drive further west on I 80 and take Hwy 13 south to Craig and pick up Hwy 40 to my destination north of Meeker.

Workingdude, I do not see a problem with your route south 127/125 to hwy 14 to 40 etc. It is cool country to drive through and I have friends in Steamboat who say the routes are open. Bear in mind my info is second hand . Wish I were in that neck of the woods right now myself. Too many elk seasons have passed since I left my home in the high country! Good luck on your hunt and safe travels!

Despite all of the hype from the media and other outlets, this year will go down as an average season nationwide. It has nothing to do with global warming, just forest mismanagement.
