Years ago I saw a Vero Vellini sling at the local Bass Pro....It looked well made so I bought one now I own about 4 of them. Stays put and never slips....kinda pricey when compared to some lesser slings best shop around for pricing.

LFC, "A rifle on your shoulder is like getting caught with your pants down." Great line and exactly my experience with them. I'd have another head on the wall if my '06 would have been in my hands instead over my shoulder. I'll sling a rifle if I don't intend to use it for a bit. A nice accessory to have when needed, but they will lighten your load...of game meat imo.

I keep a simple 1" nylon lightweight sling in my pocket and that's where it stays until I need it.
I generally do not sling a rifle while hunting.

Montana slings for rifles without QD swivels and nylon mountain slings for the rest.

I use a simple nylon strap. I coat the inside where it rides on my shoulder with a couple of stripes of silicone seal. Once it dries it provides excellent traction.
I agree with having your rifle in your hands whenever possible, but sometimes you need both hands for other things and then it's worth its weight in gold.
I also use the sling when shooting if at all possible. We spend a lot of time talking about rifle bedding, ammo selection and bullet seating lengths. Proper use of a sling in the correct shooting positions will improve your practical field shooting accuracy more than all of those tweaks combined.

The 1” carrying strap that Remington used to supply with BDL rifles is number 1 for me. I like the Montana sling too…it’s just a little heavier.

Butler Creek is Chinese fuucky fuucky, no? With Chinese fuucky fuucky Uncle Mike's swivels, no? The latest version of the GrovTec Mountaineer is pure USA awesomeness. Come'on Man! https://grovtec.com/collections/slings/products/mountaineer-slings?variant=49939886612For quick adjust leather, the longer Montana is quality kit. I think they've gone to US made GrovTec swivels now...

Looks like they got the non slip on the wrong end of the sling....I detest swivels that have the screw locks on them.

Quake Claw for me. We hunt pretty open country, so the rifle rides on the shoulder quite a bit. The Claw keeps the rifle where it is supposed to be…

I generally do not sling a rifle while hunting. Same here except the sling is usually a web sling typically used on a M1 Garande.

For standard swivels, the Butler Creek Mountain sling. Non-slip lining & locking swivel buttons.
For push button flush cups I like the standard Blueforce Vickers in solid colors only. The camo one is different material & too slick.
