Old school here: M1907 US military leather slings only. Infinitely adjustable, easily removed for carrying separately, and, gasp, an actual shooting aid.

What's your preferred brand or style? How bout materials, pricing, swivels? What about if money is no obstacle? I make a custom "Rhodesian" sling that uses 1 1/4 nylon and 4 steel H-buckles. Works really well and I've shot the same design for years. The only thing bad about them is the buckles will scratch up rifles if you're not careful.

I keep a simple 1" nylon lightweight sling in my pocket and that's where it stays until I need it.
I generally do not sling a rifle while hunting. Same

The 1” carrying strap that Remington used to supply with BDL rifles is number 1 for me. I like the Montana sling too…it’s just a little heavier. Yes! But where do you find these Remington straps. I ended up shifting to an Allen compromise, but prefer the Remington strap. I found one very close to the Remington sling on ebay probably 10 years ago but just did a search and found one that looks almost like it at “reloaderaddict.com”

Looks like they got the non slip on the wrong end of the sling....I detest swivels that have the screw locks on them. Okey docky, yet I can't fathom how you figure such... LOL

for my blue/walnut guns i like a plain leather hook & eye single layer sling. wider at the top of shoulder. rough side in to keep it on the shoulder. hit it once in a while with snowproof and it will last forever.

LFC, "A rifle on your shoulder is like getting caught with your pants down." Great line and exactly my experience with them. I'd have another head on the wall if my '06 would have been in my hands instead over my shoulder. I'll sling a rifle if I don't intend to use it for a bit. A nice accessory to have when needed, but they will lighten your load...of game meat imo. Caught with your pants down, eh? That's relative to where you hunt and the type of terrain you hunt, I suppose. Like many others here, I may put miles on the boots between creek bottoms or draws and need my hands free to use my binoculars. I spend hours looking through my binoculars, with a slung rifle, only unslinging my rifle for seconds to make a shot.

A 1 1/4 nylon sling is still my favorite. Simple but effective.

lwg Not hard to find similar, and the prices flucuate, but these simple units are US Made, one with plastic, one with metal buckles. I've several just because. Plastic and tubular webbing. https://www.amazon.com/BLUCOLLAR-TA...+sling+usa&qid=1631323864&sr=8-3Quality flat webbing and metal buckles. https://www.amazon.com/Fire-Force-M...sling+usa&qid=1631323888&sr=8-10

The 1" Murray Leather looks almost identical to the sling that's on my brothers late 60's era 700BDL
