This morning at 6:30 AM I was going out for Breakfast, I fell asleep at the wheel (I think) not sure of anything at this point, Ran off the road and hit a Telephone pole , took about 8 feet of it with me. for 25 yds, and hit a very large blown down form the recent storm.. Penetrated the large branches at the top, and continued on for 40 more yards,, where my truck stopped. crawled out an saw the motor half under the fire wall.. nobody saw me, most likely no one up yet.. fellow came out of his house that owned the property and said are you ok? I said yes, so he went and got me a chair to sit on then called for help... my only injury is a sore chest, where the steering wheel hit me... I was taken to the Hospital shock Trauma unit and was checked out,, everything is ok... my 2010 Silverado is toast... I finally got Breakfast at 4:30 PM that sucks. anyone else have a 9/11 Day?

Glad you’re okay, Hubert. Any idea of the speed? I’m involved in airbag design...curious to confirm the airbag deployed as well.

Best wishes,

Damn!! Please don't do that again, that's getting a new truck the hard way.

Neighbor down the road fell off his Harley bike two driveways down from his, he said he got dizzy and just rode off in the yard. I helped him pick up his bike and he hasn't rode it since. No damage to his bike, but he was lucky his 'episode' happened close to home instead of out on the highway.

Well, so after all the airbag crap do i have to take my new Toyota back in for an airbag? Please?

I mean, is this schiett rocket science? Id rather go with just the seatbelt but is it asking too much to not have a freaking airbag than can take your face or head off?

Holy cow! I’m glad you’re ok! I started having issues getting drowsy at the wheel. Turned out I had sleep apnea. Hasn’t happened since I got my half-azzed cosmonaut mask.

Good thing you weren’t driving a Corvair. 😳
You may want to get checked for mini-stroke (unless they’ve already done it). I would think it would be pretty unusual to go to sleep at the wheel just shortly after getting up.

Dang, that's quite a story. Congrats?

Reminds me of a question. Why is it that ambulances are built on such stiff suspension? Totally miserable to ride in. Seems to me they could tune the suspension such that it'd ride in the middle of the springs and be smoother. I know my truck is made to ride when carrying an intended load.
