This sermon is dedicated to my friend Ethan Edwards. When I think of an honorable man on this forum, my mind immediately goes to him. He was highly informed about important issues challenging our country today. He was a man of principle, valued family, friends, freedom, and life. I cherish our correspondence and hope to see my brother face to face someday. If you do as well, but are not certain of your destination, please consider taking a few minutes to listen to the links in the signature below. There's no more important topic. There's no better time than now. If you knew Ethan and didn't know what happened, read this https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/16426050/1
Please take time to pray for his family today too. His wife is not well, needs healing, and the children's hearts carry an unbearable burden.
Can you define what you mean by the term "blessed"? I hear it used by you and others regularly, heard it back in my church days too. People would say they were blessed by a sermon or something similar, I never understood it.

Good question.
It gets mixed up and wrongly taught as I remember growing up. I heard that it meant saved or some other common term dealing with heaven. Context of how it's used is the best way to understand it IMHO. Generally the word blessed means "happy" or 'favored' when it applies to people. When it refers to God, it sometimes means "praise."
The context of the sermon goes into how Job had started out we'll as a believer before Satan tempted him. After Job's trials, he came forth as gold. He was provided twice what he had in the beginning in spite of his loss. It doesn't usually come by way of physical possessions like Job received, but many are promised happiness beyond imagination when they develop love for the Lord.
When our families and friends trust Christ, they will be many of those blessings that are more important than livestock, riches and an exceptionally long life. We can all live forever and be given better things to come.
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
The first requirement is in the Signature, which is why I often mentioned that.

I am sorry, but there is still time to understand as long as you are breathing. Really.
Faith and love of others knows no mileage nor bounds. That's simply the way it is. dogzapper
