Saw a post about turnips in another thread and didn’t want to derail further. If anyone likes turnip soup, or might think they want to try a truly southern style dish that’s easy to make, but taste great, I have a recipe I’ll share with you. I’ve never cooked it for a group of folks that didn’t like it.
Glory southern style seasoned turnip greens 1 can Margaret Holmes black eye peas 1 can Smoked link sausage cut in circles 1 lb (I like Conecuh) Corn 1 can white Rotel 1 can Chopped onion 1 Chicken broth Optional (bacon) cook it brown but not crisp then add it to the pot.
Skillet the sausage cuts then dump in a pot with all the other ingredients except the onion Don’t drain any cans Skillet the onion in the sausage grease then dump in the pot
Add chicken broth to desired soupiness
Simmer it for 30 minutes and keep stirred. Make your favorite cornbread and serve.

Where are the turnips?
Do southerners actually eat turnips?
We do. Most don't eat the tops.
Southerners only ever mention the tops.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
