Getting a Browning fn safari grade 3006 need help finding scope base.

Found what I needed, gun owner found a set of leupold.

Before you buy it you better be sure it's not a salt wood gun....one of the worst salt wood guns I ever saw was a a Browning Safari FN/98 action.
I would ask to take it out of the stock and check for signs of rust.

I would ask to take it out of the stock and check for signs of rust. I saw one years ago, bad news!

It it were my safari it would be S&K or Conetrol rings.

Arts gun shop in Missouri sells a chemical test to test the stock to see if it was one of the salt cured stocks......check out Arts videos on Youfube he explains about Brownings use of salt cured walnut in the 1960s.
Taking it out of the stock and looking for any signs of rust where wood meets metal is a pretty good test.
