The birds, that is…

We still have a couple, though the pickings are getting slim; just some Cypress vine, a few zinnias, and annual vinca. A couple of Nicotiana came up late and have a bunch of very sweet-smelling blooms, but they’re getting a pass.

Only one or two catbirds still around; the rest have flown the coop.

In North GA, they are still hitting the feeders very hard.

I don’t feed anymore, just plant flowers. That Cypress vine, a viciously invasive plant given the chance, really draws them.

Our black-chins left with the full moon August 15. Broadtail pairs stuck around until the new moon Sept 1. I'm seeing one or two migrating Rufous birds almost every day, but they're almost done, too. Took down one of my three feeders this morning, the large one that holds a full liter. Will keep the remaining 250 ml bottles up until the hard frosts come, just in case there are a few stragglers. But my heart sinks when they go.

Phew, I'm so glad no one took the headline and dragged the thread down the toilet. What a relief.

Our gang has really thinned out. Just a few left. I expect they’ll be gone by the end of the month.

yep, haven't seen one at the feeders here for 3 days so I took them down this a.m., tired of feeding the yellow jackets which were bad this year for some reason.

For the past few years we've been leaving our hummingbird feeders up until mid October as we still always have some stragglers passing through that late. Even when temperatures dropped down into the low 40s / high 30s at night we've had them still stopping to feed the next day.

We have a couple today. I think 10 days to two weeks ago was our max, 8-10 or so.

All the Rufous have left. Anna's are happy to have the feeders to themselves. They'll stick around all Winter.

Willamette Valley, Oregon here. We still have a bunch. I usually get 3-4 all year around.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Two at one time constitutes a lot where I’m at.

Our resident black-chins seem to clear out by mid-August. IIRC they are one of those migrants like Orchard Orioles and Painted Buntings that migrate WSW to Northwest Mexico for the late summer “Mexican Monsoon” season before heading further South.

Ruby-throats pick up in September peaking mid month. Right on schedule I had four at a time in the yard most of last week. Two or three out front today.

Big push of migrant songbirds moving through right now, gonna be bigger wed-thurs when the winds shift to the northeast.

We only had a couple or three all summer, they hung out here, mom kept the feeder serviced for them. They left about 3 weeks or so ago, sounds llke they made it South OK.
