Love them! The Europeans make a mash with parsnips, celery root, carrot, turnips, and potatoes. All can be substituted. Delicious.

I was eating one when I killed my first buck. Haven’t had one in the last 30 years that I can remember.

Turnips are a food that starving peasants ate - reluctantly.

Try them mashed with carrots smothered with butter, salt and pepper served with roast beast.. My wife's family did it that way. Changed my mind on eating turnip.

Turnips, together with radishes, rutabagas and kale are deer food! We plant acres of the stuff and it’s become a stronger draw than the corn we plant. I’ve eaten them raw and cooked in stews….but in my book, their primary purpose is for helping my deer get through the winter.

I plant 400 lbs of turnips and radishes every year. I don't eat them, but the deer and cattle do.

Raw turnips, sliced, and covered with cottage cheese. Add salt - follow with a swallow or two of beer. Repeat.
