Anyone have kids out for Youth hunt last weekend ? This weekend is "Doe Days" as my hunting gang calls it. I was out this morning, seen more bucks than does, no shots for me. The new owners of the property where I hunt, shot a doe this AM.
Anyone else hunting ?

No, waiting for bow season. Won't be anything to hunt next year, with the DNRs 10 doe tags a person this season! In my area for the last 16 years they only gave out 1600 tags. Out of 6 that put in maybe 1 or 2 of us would get a doe permit. Now this there's less deer now then there were 3-4 years ago here.

I normally would not hunt early doe, even though we have to many locally. I like bow hunting, but the property I hunt has changed owners and now has more people on it. They are good folks, so that's no problem. Eating lots of venison all year long, I was like sure I'll shoot and easy one early.

I did shoot a doe Saturday night. Turned her lights out via 223 Ai & a 62gr TSX. No complaints from the Mrs this morning when I made her steak and eggs for brunch.

Don't get me wrong I'll take a doe, if I don't shoot 2 bucks. 2 deer are enough for the wife and myself.

I was gonna get out but to dam hot.sucks too cuz come the 1st everything will be nocturnal again til dec if im lucky I'm sure by our property, it was crockery creek taking on the Taliban this past weekend. We have alot of pressure and alot of deer but I wish they would go back to just 2 week gun and don't allow any firearm during muzzleloader, etc

Some places have almost no deer, Some have way too many. I got in on a crop damage hunt, hoping to get my foot in the door for regular season hunting. If not the freezer is filled and I can chase bucks for fun now.

This past weekend we actually made it to the back 40. Both 40's are split by a drainage and usually under 4-6ft of water. Bone ass dry and daughter was bugging me to go out back.
We headed to the SW corner of the 40 to see if my stand is still there. It is but I need to remove it. Been up 8 years and it's never been sat in. Anyways this is like the 2nd time in 8 years I've been in this part of property. Kinda kept it a sanctuary.
Trees were destroyed all along the western property line. Solid buck line going north/south. Definitely have deer in there.
