Don’t you have a picture of you with the bins that might show ownership?
Using someone else’s receipt might be considered insurance fraud. Good luck.

Most receipts will have cc numbers which won’t be yours. I’d call the store or your own cc company or contact whoever you bought them from second hand and see if they will vouch for you. Sorry for your stuff getting stolen.

I know a guy that has his Swaro SLC's stolen. Whoever stole them sent them in to be serviced and Swarovski called him (original owner) up and told him his binos were done and ask where to send them. There's hope in case your insurance doesn't come through.

That is ridiculous. Hopefully you have them registered with Swarovski. If so I’d call and explain the situation and maybe they can provide some proof of ownership.

If you have the box it has the serial number on it that should be proof.

Come to think of it, I just had a set of Swaro's top of the line binos stolen out of my truck this morning! Along with 3 rifles, 2 shotguns, a pistol and 4500 rounds of ammo! Dammit, I need to call my insurance agent right away.

Are you sure the insurance co. isn’t asking you to buy a new comparable pair and then provide that receipt?

Are you sure the insurance co. isn’t asking you to buy a new comparable pair and then provide that receipt? That’s for after they only pay you 40% of what your items are worth , to get your replacement value. But most, before they give you anything, they want receipts, pictures, box, warranty registration etc… proving you owned the item claimed. The one time I had a claim, after I provided receipts and pictures for about 3/4 of what I claimed, they didn’t push for the remainder.

Wife lost her diamond wedding ring insured value $10'000 we had a rider with pictures and a separate policy for the ring....she went to the hospital for surgery had the ring on and needed to remove it I put it in my jeans watch pocket and forgot about it with every thing going on that day.....wife asked about the ring several days later I couldn't find it..... Called my agent to tell them it was lost....they wanted us to go to a jeweler of there choice for a replacement.....they had nothing even close to the same ring....wife went to a pawn shop and found a larger ring higher grade and platinum she liked but the insurance company would not let her get it....but would give a check for $8000 as a settlement..... We fought State Farm for 6 months they sent a check for $8000 we never ask for that had to be cashed in 30 days..... I canceled State Farm very soon after that.....

Pretend you are the insurance company and someone filed a claim for a damaged roof from hail. Do you just send them a check or investigate the damage to determine what the next course of action is?
Asking for proof of a lost item isn’t unreasonable, get real you bunch of critics.
Not everyone is dishonest. The insurance company doesn’t know if you ever had a pair of binoculars.
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

I find it fishy that someone would ask for a receipt.

When i had a set of Zeiss FL and a Swaro RF stolen out of my truck the insurance company asked for the same. I had bought both private sale... I was able to send them pictures of the factory boxes that showed the serial number(s). I included a courtesy pic from the range that happened to have the RF and binocular on the table in the background. The insurance company paid.

Likely they want proof of you buying a replacement so they can reimburse you for full value and not cash value. You need to buy a replacement to follow the contract honestly.
If it is somehow, a case of them asking for proof of ownership, they don't get to do that.

They owe you what the policy says and you do not need to prove a thing. However they pay you back for your used item and if you want new cost replaced you need to show them you did replace it. Not someone else.
