I bought some Old Hickory Paring knives
The smallest has a 3 .25 inch blade and the larger one has a 4 inch blade.

Made neck knife sheaths for both from
3-4 oz veg tan leather.and a piece of leather lacing to go around my neck.
With the 3.25 inch blade knife with sheath the the weight is 1.5 ounce
With the 4 inch blade knife the weight including sheath is 2 ounces.

I made them to hold the knife in a blade down position and have them sitting where the sheath covers the blade and about 1 inch of the handle
Easy to draw with one hand and easy to sharpen the high carbon steel with a file to hair Pulling Sharp.

Can pick em up for less than 10 bucks apiece on Midway.
As far as I am concerned best bargain on knives out there.

Couple of Stabby cutty knives

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

Pay no attention to the lack of a finger guard..., it's a boot knife.

A Waidblatt, (kinda fun to say)

My everyday carry Stabby cutty is a SAK. A whopping 74mm of dangerous, deadly to fingernails, magical shank/shiv that's been at my side for more years than I care to remember. In fact, I kind of collect them. This particular model was discontinued by Victorinox sometime ago. It's called an "Executive" and it'll peel an orange like nobody's business!

Behold the goodness!

Rather jump off a bridge than get in a knife fight. Buck 119 is a nicely shaped and adequately large fixed blade with an ample guard that serves multiple purposes well. If I didn’t have a gun on me, or even when I do, i carry one in the field. Anything with a nice clip point and some length. If seriously concerned about a 4 legged critter getting on you, I personally think any such knife should have a lanyard ring. I like lanyard rings on pistols too. Could be a game-changer. I have an old Puma Skinner that is such. Great knife, multi purpose, lanyard ring, and you don’t look like a wannabe Rambo strapping it.

On the skinner that hole is for sheath retention.

Last time I used mine it was over at the local roundabout cutting hessian matting at work, a couple of hours doing that screwed the edge royally but it is what I had at the time.

Ya use what ya got.

I gutted a deer with a box cutter one time.

When your young and get plastered the night before a hunt sometimes you forget things in camp. Have no idea why I had the box cutter on me.

Years ago, I had a "Seconds" Cold Steel Recon Tanto Carbon V. I gutted my first cow elk (including opening up the sternum) and afterward it "would still shave"! I was impressed for a $25 knife at the time, lol. It cut that old cow elk "like butter"! I moved on to a Sam Mai Outdoorsman. I like Benchmade McHenry/Williams for EDC.

You bet. I've got one of the older USA made models too, from the 1970s. Same sheath.

I keep a couple of these cheap Cold Steel’s in my truck and one in my hunting pack. Sharp Mofo. And holds an edge well too.

I am gonna go with this one.

American made.

Is that enough blade for a Walrus?

Yes..I would not feel silly showing that to a walrus.

You think they would at least say that in the description " Walrus approved", it seems like a major selling point.
