Regardless of movie type or era. Whether you like the person or not. The actor may or may not have ever impressed you in any other movies. But for whatever reason, you really like them in a particular movie and role, not because they were popular or good looking or whatever. More, they were really authentic and made you believe that the actor was in fact the character.
Saw a replay of Jaws on Netflix, and was thinking Robert Shaw as Quint has to be one of my all time favorites.

Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody. That had to be a difficult role to research and pull off.

I have two.
First, Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Second, Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men.

walter mathua in grumpy old men LOL. Or Burgess Meredith I the same Movie. And I’ll throw in Billy Bob Thornton as “Carl” in Slingblade. Can’t stand ole Billy Bob, but he nailed that role.

I’m not saying Jack Nicholson wasn’t a great actor otherwise, but he did a great job as Col. Nathan R Jessup, in A Few Good Men.
