It's very rare to ever even see a warden around here. I've seen two in 40+ years of hunting my ass off. IDGAF what other "hunters" do. I fill my tags every year regardless. You might be better off if you weren't such a goddam busy body and just mind your own P's & Q's.

There's one that I run into in one of the State forests where I go to shoot in the summer. Nice guy and actually a friend of a friend. Don't know if he hangs out there during hunting season or not as I don't hunt there. Never seen him anywhere else. He keeps an eye on/patrols that particular spot because it is a popular place for target shooters {the only clearing for miles where you can shoot any distance} and folks tend to leave trash, put targets on live trees and tear up the place with their 4x4's. All of which are unlawful.

I just mind my own business. I ain't a bunny cop and prefer to spend my time afield hunting rather than worrying about what others are doing. You might try it sometime.
Lucky for me, my state has long seasons, generous bag limits, no tag draws, and few restrictions on what you hunt with, except no airguns or rimfires under .25 caliber for big game. No baiting on public land, and restricted in counties with CWD and those adjacent. They manage the game, not the hunters. Lots of deer, bear, and turkeys. Real trophy-class deer can be found in four counties that are vertical bow-only. We even have some real wild boars, NOT feral hogs, from a stocking done years ago.
Next door, VA also has generous bag limits and long seasons, and allows hunting with just about anything as well, even airguns. If allowing crossbows, inlines, suppressors, even baiting, had a negative impact on deer numbers or quality on their own, it would show up in this area, so I have to conclude that it doesn’t, so I don’t fret over what anyone else does, I just hunt how I like, within the very loosey-goosey rules and my own notions of fair chase, and ignore all the blather from those who want to tell others how it ought to be done, especially when they complain about how “their deer” are being killed before they get a chance at them. The chance is there for them just like everyone else.

My point is the baiting and good ole boy stuff enacted on for certain private interest and not the public even though it is presented that way. And the lack of enforcement of laws.
I see baiting as a valid tool for controlling numbers under certain conditions, and maybe making meat by a farmer that is too busy to hunt and wants a nice standing shot, but that has never been the case for me. I’ve also known people who got a charge out of bending the rules or just plain poaching, but they’re the same jackasses that cheat at cards or golf or cornhole, or line up for free food with a wallet full of cash. I know about them, but don’t understand the mindset.
I turned in an illegal bear bait pile and the warden said he knew right where I was talking about and he'd go out there and bust em and get back to me. He never did call and let me know what happened.
Only reason I decided to call it in was I drove my truck down this little two track right into it. Guy had a trail camera on the bait pile, so there's my truck on camera at an illegal bait site. Didn't want to be implicated myself.
