Cant' do scopes and be legal for muzzle seasons here. Have a scout unit on a Marlin Guide gun, and one could run all the machinery with boxing gloves on.

This is a 2.5X Leupold and a fine handling 45-70 reserved for dark timber.

You might try the immediate eye relief option, but for conventional eye relief, I believe you're out of luck.

I purchased an Impact four years ago for my wife to use. It's well made and plenty accurate, however, the hammer system sucks if one wants to install a reasonably low rifle scope. I managed to reach forefinger and thumb around the eye piece to cock the hammer, but the wife had great difficulty. Trying to safely lower the hammer was also a bad experience. I contacted T/C and there's no option. Even several talented machinists I know couldn't help design a hammer spur given the manner in which the hammer buries into the receiver when cocked.

It's too bad - great rifle but poor design in that regard. I wasn't going to put something like super high or IronSighter mounts on it so mine went down the road.

Good luck.

Much is made about the situation but I really don't understand a lot of it. I have a Leupold 2x7 mounted low in a DNZ mount and cock the hammer without any undue gymnastics or strain. Could it be a little easier? Sure it could, and T/C should have given that some thought. But it isn't such an issue to keep me from enjoying hunting with the gun and killing deer with it.
