Headed to the Kenai this weekend to stay with some friends who have a place in Sterling, they invited us down to fish for silvers but I'm hearing that the fishing is s l o w. Anyone been out fishing the Kenai care to share a report on the silver fishing?
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

onerifle No fish counter in the Kenai for silvers that I'm aware of, which is why I am asking here.

You're getting a pretty accurate report. The 2nd run of silvers should be peaking now with lots of big fish, but it's SLOW SLOW SLOW. gotta work long and hard to get limits. I'll probably be on the middle this weekend looking for them as well.

I would fish trout this time of year!
Going to have the wife bring her trout flyrod and let her have at it, as long as this snow forecast isn't as bad as they are making it out to be and prevents us from getting down there.

ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

No snow in Sterling. Lying bastids missed the temp forecast night before last tho. Forecast 27, actual on my therrmometers 14. Froze the greenhouse tomatoe plants, I think the fruits (which we picked and brought in yesterday), will be ok, ripening on counter, hopefully. The outside ones covered with poly tarp made it OK. Those will have to be picked soon too. They go - once ripened - well in the salad that goes with the PU reds caught in June...... Hows that for a hijack? Dunno nothing about silver fishing- I don't do rodnreel. Gimmee a gill net every time. Good luck atcha anyway.

Fished the middle on Wednesday. Lots of boats, still quite a few spawning sockeye, very few silvers around and I looked hard for them. Trout fishing was good though.

Silvers were nil but we did see a seal cruising the shoreline looking for a meal. My friend told me he saw a porpoise in front of his place last week, he's just down river from the Moose.
