I have never used a tripod or spotting scope for hunting, and now believe that I need to learn. My bino combo is an 8x42 and 12x50. I would like to start out with a quality tripod and bino adapter using the 12x for this season, then add a quality spotting scope next. What would you tripod users recommend for backpack hunting? I would really like this to be a "buy once" purchase. Thank you. Gary

The best bet would be the Sirui T024SKVA5. It's light weight, fluid head, carbon fiber. Normally $299.90, on sale for forum members at 15% off, $254.92 and a $15 mail in rebate. Both thru the end of September. Feel free to call me at 516-217-1000 to discuss your needs

Joel

I just ordered the tripod mentioned above from Joel on Wednesday. Excited for it to show up Monday. Call cameraland, Joel was super helpful on the phone.

For backpack hunting, I use Vortex High Country Tripod HC-2 with a grip head which fits nicely in my pack. It's so lightweight for why it's easy to carry during backpack hunting.
For more details about this Vortex tripod check this review. Hope it will help you to choose the right one.

I ordered a Sirui carbon fiber set up from a Joel a year ago. Love it. Order a spare qd plate while you are at it. Spence
