I ordered TTSXs but received TAC-TXs, which apparently are designed to expand at 300 BO velocities. I was intending to load the TTSXs to 3000+ in my 308 and 30-06 for deer. I have had great success with the 80gr TTSX in my 257 loaded to around 3250fps. Before I return the TAC-TXs, I thought I would check to see if anyone has used them pushed much faster than intended. I did email Barnes but haven't heard back. The 110 TTSXs are out-of-stock everywhere, so it would be great if these will work. I'm curious about their accuracy potential and terminal performance at high velocity. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is the TAC-TX is just a TTSX that is "tad better quality" ( balance/weight,etc) but essentially the same. Have no fear, drive them as hard as you can!

The 100 TAC-TX has a bit of a different profile than the 110 TTSX. I haven't used them in 308, but tried both in my 300BO and ended up going with the TTSX because the accuracy was better in my rifle.

I just did the old milk jug tests on both, and results at 50 yards were about the same with both, but that is at snail speed compared to what they'd be zinging out of a 308. Only thing I've shot with them is coyote, though.

Rifles are very much individuals, so if I had grabbed the one on the shelf next to mine when I bought it, it may have preferred the TAC-TX. It wasn't a huge difference in accuracy, about .25 MOA.

I don't know about the .308 bullets, but the Barnes 300gr 458 SOCOM bullet is sold in both flavors, TTSX and TAC-TX.....per Barnes, they are the exact same bullet sold under two different names.

The .308 110s are not the same. The TAC-TX has a single groove compared to 2 on the TTSX and they're a bit more tail heavy than the TTSX. TTSX advertised BC is .295, and .289 for the TAC.

I shot up all the TACs I had, or I'd do a side by side comparison

Shooting the tac bullets in Ruger ranch , got groups that never got bigger than .75”
TTSX’s ran 3/4” to 1.5” , both setting on 20gr lil gun .
In the Ruger compact 308 , both bullets ran around 1” to 1.5” .
Setting on 50gr Tac .
Have not shot any game with them yet , but will soon wash them in deer blood .
