I'm considering bow hunting again, but it's been 15 years and I don't want to go over $500. What bow is better in your opinion, Diamond, Parker, Martin, or Fred Bear?

They're all good. You raelly can't buy a truly bad bow today. You're best bet would be to go to a pro shop or Cabelas and handle all the bows you can. Each brand has its own feel, and you will either really like it or really hate it.For me PSE and Diamond feel the best, but that doesn't mean they will to you.Another brand to check out is Mission Archery.Mathews makes them.Very good bow for under $500.Good luck!

You might consider buying a bow that is a year or two old, the technology isn't that different but the price sure drops. Oh and welcome back, alot of stuff has changed in the last 15 years and this sport has gotten more expensive as a result.

Go to your local archery shop and shoot as many bows as you can. There will be one bow that just feels natural to you. Trust me...the decision will make itself.

I'll second the vote for Mission - Starting at $339 retail, they are a great value.

Thanks for the replies. I finally made it up to the local archery shop and got my draw legnth at 27". They tried to get me to buy when I was up there but they were too expensive although I did get my hands on the diamonds, parkers, and Fred Bears without shooting them but the diamond felt the best. One more trip up to Bass Pro next week before I make my decision and get one on Ebay. I honestly haven't been so geeked out about hunting before in my life. I can't wait

$500 dollars and you get the best bow on the market in that price range in a Martin! shot Parkers on several occations and didn't like the vibration.

Welcome back! Nothing at all wrong with used bows! Don't buy into the speed BS! DO take it to the pro-shop and let em set you up correctly!

More great advice, you guys are great! I called Bass Pro and asked them about the Diamond Rapture, they said it was made by Bowtech and they recommend that one the most! BUT, (there is always a but) they also recommended I try my hand at the Martin Bengal. So, I'm making the trip up there tomorrow afternoon to try all four bows, Diamond Rapture, Martin Bengal, Fred Bear Instinct, and the Parker Wildfire. They're going to let me test fire, this should be fun..... = - )

Thank you for all of the great advice and the replies!

I bought the Diamond Rapture today. Only went with the 60 pound draw at 290 fps. I hope that's plenty? The bow is incredibly quiet and fast so I don't think the loss in what, 15 fps will make any difference!

Awesome bow
