There are a lot of bear in that area and a lot more just southwest of there around Game Lands 13 and 57. There are even more in the Poconos. PA has a lot of bear.

That info that says bear weight stops around 400 is B.S.
There are bears killed here every year that go well past 400.

Bear are a problem darn near everywhere.

The "solution" is to move them.

Talk to a decent warden (if you can find one).
He will tell you he catches nuisance bears, and hauls them
to a remote area(usually game lands) a long way off.
What he may or may not tell you, is the warden where he drops them
also has to catch nuisance bears. And he hauls them a long way off.

There are numerous big game lands around here, and ive had
a warden tell me of pulling a trapped bear down the road, to get rid of it.
And passing another warden bringing one to him!

It's just a swap.

Was that the bear that was poached in the restaurant parking lot? For those that don't know there was a big bear that frequented a restaurant dumpster in the Poconos. He was a local attraction. Someone killed him in or near the parking lot. I believe I read he was over 800 pounds.

If you’re talking about “Bozo”, the bear that hung around dumpsters outside a restaurant in the poconos, and was hand fed at times by locals, he was killed legally, with a crossbow in the bear archery season 8 or 10 years ago. A lot of ppl might not agree with it, but it was legal. Probably not for the worst either, as it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt.

Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

A good number of those bears end up right back where they were trapped from, in a short amount of time. It’s amazing how fast they can travel that far, and how they know how to get back where they came from.

OK that was probably him. I thought he was poached . I remember the outcry by a lot of people in the area.
