Gents/ Ladies: 2 part question for you:

a) Are you supporting your family on your income?

b) Have you raised your family start to finish on your income?

This is not a question of why your spouse/ partner chooses to work/ not work.

My answers- (a) Yes, my spouse has always worked but we do not need her income to subsist and (b) Yes, for the past 35 years (3rd family for me).

Sketchy?

Saw a McD’s needing help so bad they are paying daily.

And THAT is what I meant in the title. Sketchy does not necessarily mean "lack thereof".

My wife used to make a LOT more than me. We decided she should stay home for a while when our son was born and she took three years off. Now she's part time (same company almost 30 years) and we make about the same.

We could make it on either one of our incomes, but we wouldn't be saving and investing like we want to.

Both work, always have. She resigned her position 3 years ago to run our office. It’s enabled the company to grow and increase net revenue far more than what her previous salary provided. Best decision we ever made.

My wife was a stay at home mom for all but a couple years.
She could have gone almost anywhere and made pretty good money on a high school diploma.

I've had sketchy employment for most of our marriage.
Mostly we have both worked.
Sometimes one of us hasn't.
Me unemployed, her home with kids. But not much.
Sometimes she made extra money, sometimes necessary.
For the last 10+ years, her income wasn't needed. But it allowed breathing room.
Life has been too complicated for us to answer this simply.

Yes to both. My wife and I both make decent incomes but neither of us are getting rich. Together we have a solid lifestyle and are able to own some fun stuff and save for retirement. Wife’s an RN and I work in chemical processing now and in the trades prior to that.

I run a brothel. I've had a hard time hiring help lately, so I've just been running it by hand.
