Went to a local Sherwin Williams paint store for 2 gallons of paint. Colored it, mixed it then rung up the bill, and I noticed there was a 4% Supply Chain charge. WTF? There was small sign posted about it, but not very obvious, effective Oct. 1st. First I've heard of such, but won't shop there again!

They must believe the increased supply chain costs are temporary, and I doubt that is the case.

Transportation costs are up double digit percentages each year the last 2 years. Not counting FSC.

China to the US container costs in the spot market up 500%

There isn’t a ton of elasticity in pricing to simply absorb that. Thus surcharges.

Better than the “Market Adjustment Fee” of $12,000 I saw on the sticker of a new 2021 Chevrolet 2500 recently. Bumped the $48,000 truck up to $60,000. All 5 of the vehicles they had on their lot had the same fee which ranged from 4K to 12k. Inflation is here to stay I am afraid, contrary to what the Biden administration told us.

I'd say that is more of supply and demand than inflation.

Personally I like to see businesses letting us know why costs are up. That way if it sounds like bs then you can decide whether to buy there or not. If its legit then place the blame where it should be. Just burying the increased cost into the product and passing it along without explanation doesnt help people identify the problem.
Look at your phone bill ,your airline ticket , hotel bill or property taxes. Its all itemized.

Most products are higher. In March I bought two shelving units with large casters for my garage in FL. I liked them so well I decided to buy one for my warehouse in AL where I store my atvs and about five bins of gear and items I might need at my hunting lease up there. I March I paid $110 per unit. Now they are $159. I checked on other brands equal to the ones I bought at they are all over $150 a unit. Thats a heck of an increase.

I just recently bought an outdoor loading ramp for a forklift to go into a semi trailer. Cost of unit was $15,800.

STEEL SURCHARGE WAS $4800.00

It's crazy.

The paint industry is dealing with a shortage of titanium dioxide.

Same old, same old.

Their business, they can charge what they want.

I would, but it needs to be mobile. We move it around the yard some.

Utility trailer I bought this time last year has gone up 23% for the same model. Likely a steel pricing add-on.

Exactly. Every time you hear someone bitching about the increased cost of anything we just need to repeat that little slogan. It’s working great.

I spoke with a former co-worker a couple weeks ago, and he said their construction projects are all behind due to lack of materials, 6 to 9 months are not uncommon. Plus the covid hokes delayed work since people stayed home instead of working.

Our main distributor sent an email out 2 weeks ago.

It basically stated that every 'cost' they incur from product to shipping to handling has doubled[at least] over the past year which they had been eating to some degree.

No more, the letter stated 'prices are going up substantially 10/1.

No specific category, just going up.

They warehouse around 20K SKU's at 10+ DC's across the country.

Wayne, I want you to solemnly swear that you won't shop anywhere that the prices have gone up.

I wish somebody would print a bumper sticker that says "None of this happened under Trump"
