People are paying stupid money for Remingtons right now. I didn't think they were worth their asking price 20 years ago and I certainly wouldn't pay more than that now. Someone recently wrote they have collectors value now that the company sold out. I call BS. The new ones will still be made by Remington and will still be the same low quality as before the bankrupcty.
I have never been much for big game hunting but shooting northwest Ohio woodchucks has long been a passion of mine The Remington 700 varmint special is one of the best shooting factory varmint guns you will find Everything depends on condition but personally I would not sell it for less than $900
CHIPPER: Is that Rifle in a wood stock or fiberglass (plastic?)? Also does it have a floorplate? Pictures or more description needed. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
Per dustq123 They shoot good for me, I want nothing else but a leupold on top. I agree 100%. I'm off to the dog town On Thursday and I have 6 of them ready to go.
A true varmit special has a walnut stock with black forend and grip cap and white line spacers. I have one in the following calibers. 222rem 223rem 22-250rem 220swift 6mmrem 7mm-08 and 25-06. None are for sale. They just shoot too darn well

I can text pictures to someone if they could help post them up. PM me a cell number and I'll send some.
I’ve had very good luck with all the vs’s I’ve loaded for. I would like to find one chambered in 25-06. Looks like you have a lot of interest with yours, good luck with sale.
If you ever notice....ole dinny comments on everything but buys nothin; contributes nothin. Can't see his comment; he's on ignore but I'd be willing to bet it wasn't anything anyone could use.
To the OP- I sold a classic without the box for 1,000. I would think a Varmint special could bring more. How much more, I'm not sure.
1000 to 1200. Maybe more on GunBroker. A 25-06 sold for 1800 recently
Don't know if we're talking about the same rifle, but I had my hands on one that recently sold on GB for $1800. That included the tax and shipping. I mounted a scope on it, and sighted it in for the fellow who bought it. Nice rifle, metal was probably 85-90%, and the stock had a few dings here and there, but was probably about the same condition as the metal. Very accurate shooter.
Those Varmint Specials were some of Remington's best.
