I’m selling a very clean standard weight Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 chambered in .257 Roberts. I’ve had this gun in my collection for several years. Both wood and metal are in fully original condition. I would estimate the gun to be in 90-95% condition, but look at the photos and reach your own conclusion.
There are a couple of very minor spots of thinning blue on top of the barrel which I mention only for the sake of complete accuracy. No extra holes, no glass bedding, no recoil pad, no compass in the stock, and no other alterations or bad surprises—just a very clean Winchester in a very desirable caliber.
24” barrel, original bird’s beak steel buttplate, bolt number matches receiver, original sling loops, original front sight hood is present. Rear sight has been replaced with a sight blank. One piece base and 1” rings are included, but the LEUPOLD SCOPE IS NOT INCLUDED.
The rifle has a strong bore and will shoot 100 grain hand loads into an inch at 100 yards. I’ve always figured that load was good enough for my purposes, and I’ve never really wrung the accuracy out of this rifle with further experimentation.
Asking $2100 plus $50 shipping to your FFL in the lower 48. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii at cost. No California sales. If your FFL dealer requires the rifle to be shipped from an FFL on my end, add $50. The rifle will be packed carefully in a new hard case and shipped via UPS. Payment by US Postal Money Order (and I recommend sending it with tracking).
First solid “I’ll take it” followed by a PM gets the rifle.
Thanks for looking. If you have questions, just ask.
