3000 rounds? That much factory ammo is worth a couple grand at today's prices.
"Great" condition is very subjective, but it's hard to touch a functioning 92 under $1000 anymore, even in very used shape.

92? Could conceivably be an 1885 single shot too, even if discontinued on or before 1919.

That's true. I just assumed 92 when it was a 32-20. Could be a single shot, or even a late run 1873.

3000 rounds of original .32-20 ammo in good condition would likely be worth a small fortune - current factory ammo is $75+/50 rounds to a collector I’d expect it’d be north of $75 - that’d put you at $4500 for the ammo alone.

I didn't realize the ammo had gotten quite that salty. Last 32-20 I bought was around $50 and change about a year ago.
Regardless or the rifle or its condition, she's sitting on a pot of gold in amno.

Actually I’m probably a little conservative - just checked gunbroker and they were asking $125/50 rounds (asking not necessarily receiving - I didn’t check completed auctions) but the vintage stuff was well over that…….so I’d agree literally a pot of gold right there!!

For someone who didn't know what they had, it would likely be a pleasant financial boon.
I know I certainly don't walk around with $4500 in my pocket like it's change for a pop machine. I'm definitely not as rich as some of yall around here, though 😏

If it's a 92 and in good shape, seems like $1100-1200 is a fair estimate. Rifles in 32-20 are fun to shoot and companies like Taylor chamber revolvers in 32-20, so cowboy shooters like matching rigs.
I'd be more subjective and less gung-ho about the ammo value just because what it should cost on paper (based on pandemic surge) vs. what someone might actually pay for *that much* of it is way up in the air. How old is it? Is it corroded at all? Are the boxes in good shape? Could you find aomeone to drop $4k on bulk 32-20 ammo? Etc.
