My hunting partner is looking to purchase a S&W 329pd airweight 44 mag revolver. If your looking to move yours along, please shoot me a message.

If he gets one, convince him to buy the x frame grips from the 460/500. Makes it dramatically more comfortable to shoot.

They are great but if you shoot one back to back with an M69...most people will buy the M69. It's not much heavier (same as a k-frame 357), the bore axis is lower, and most people can shoot it with full power 44 mag loads.

The m69 is 10oz heavier and has a 2" shorter barrel. Very different gun. I've played with both and the m69 is nicer to shoot for sure, but the extra half pound on your hip is noticable. The 329 is fine with full power loads; just not +p. Hsm 305gr bear loads or buffalo bore "low recoil" 255gr hard cast are both heavy but manageable and still carry plenty of energy.

The m69 comes in two different barrel lengths, 2.75" and 4.25". Comparing apples to apples, the 329PD 4.13" is 25.3oz and the m69 4.25" is 37.4oz so there is a definite weight difference. I owned a model 69 for a minute (courtesy of CBinNH), great pistol, I just struggled to shoot it accurately as a hunting gun for deer so I sold it on. I kind of regret that move, I loved the size, feel, and weight of it (not too light, not too heavy). If the 329PD is anything like the Scandium 340PD .357mag I have learned that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing (that being super light weight). I have shot a 460XVR and a 500XVR, but that little Scandium 357 mouse gun is the most painful pistol I have EVER shot.

Agreed on the 357 scandium gun. I had one, used to qualify with it, and it would turn the web of my hand black n blue for a few days. Great for carrying, not so much for shooting. I also have a 329 pd, and don’t find it tough to shoot at all. With the rubber factory grips, Garrett bear loads, Buffalo bore loads, heavy hard cast, as well as normal loads give me no trouble. Then again, maybe it’s just the scar tissue built up from the 327 that keeps it from hurting 😂
Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

I may be in the minority. I've ran piles of special and mag ammo through my 329 and while it's not fun, it's not the ass kicker that folks make it out to be.
Cotis, thanks for the info. I didn't realize the 69 came in a 4" as well. That helps make it a true comparison.

Not interested in any other models besides the 329pd with the 4 inch barrel. Not swaying or needing opinions on what you feel is better/worse… thanks

I would be interested to know as well. I have one that I replaced the terrible V shaped rear express sight, and round fiber optic front with a brass bead front and traditional S&W rear so a guy could actually shoot it precisely.

How much you looking to spend? Like anything, it depends on condition and what’s included. If you guys are actually looking to sell yours, shoot me a message with the information. Thanks!
