So when it comes to my deer rifle I am all about the first two shots from a cold bore. Let’s face it, where I hunt you will be lucky to get a second shot off much less more. Anyway this past Sunday I did get to sneak out for about 2 hours and do some plinking with a 39A and I did a quick target check on my .280. My M77 Mark II all weather was right were I left it last year. Both holes side by side touching. This from federal blue box fodder. Give me a hunting rifle that will do that on the first two hots all day long. I wait a half hour before shooting again. Btw the 1954 vintage Marlin held its own too.
Most important to mention is this was our 30 anniversary and I got to neck out.
I hit the range on my anniversary as well, but it's only 24 years here.
Probably seems like 50 to her.....
But, yeah, I take a target at 25, 50 and 100 for each rifle and shoot one shot at it, cold bore, three or four range sessions in a row.
That weeds out the lemons, scope, and mount issues rather nicely.
