Winchester bolt rifle stocks.

I broke two on a model 670 in 30-06, and one on a 70 classic in 264. Actually, my son let his cow pony pass under a low hanging quakie on an elk hunt and broke the 264.

I broke the first stock on the 06 while it was loaned to me about fifty years ago. I bought a box of ammo to check zero on the rifle, and the forearm split on the eighth round.

I offered to buy a new stock and have it fitted. The owner said he would prefer to just trade my new Wingmaster magnum 12 ga for the rifle.

Little did he know, I actually got the better of that trade. With a new Weaver V7, that old 06 was one of the most accurate rifles I ever owned and was the most dependable freezer filler ever.

I broke the second stock off of it while carrying it mounted on a 76 Honda XL 350 in extremely difficult terrain.

U joints, ring & pinions, front axles.

I'm more careful with reloading. Maybe a decapping pin or two.

The bits on those cheap "gunsmith" screwdriver sets. I've mangled a bunch of those babies even after I bought a FAT wrench.

After turning, adjusting, tweaking…I called the company, they said just screw the die in some more. I did and yeah, the frame broke. They replaced it.

I fixed the chambering problem by purchasing Hornandy dies, problem solved.

I have two Mark V's. One .240 and a .300. Both German. Have the older Weatherby die sets with the open window. Very good dies.
