buck, he may have been alive, but Burton Tuttle owned the ranch then. Buck Rhoads from Saratoga ran it for Burton as he also did for the prior owner. I believe Phil Anshutz (sp?) owns it now. It was the biggest contiguous ranch in Wyo when I was there. There are bigger, but not all in one piece. Lots of history and interesting things on that place......

Wife and I spent the.night there last time we drove out west. Not much there that I remember.

Not much of a story... My mom took care of an old neighbor lady before she died. I think she was in her nineties in the early '70's when she died. She gifted mom the lamp for caring for her, as she had no family close, and told her the history on it. The wick has never been lit, and there is no sign it was ever fueled up. The old gal never actually admitted to working there......grin

Good ole Rawlins, rolled in there in front of a big dust storm in 80 or 81. Hurried into the bar and lo and behold there is the husband of one of the bartenders that worked at Giovales in Rock Springs. Ex I should say and not because of me. She was really nice to me and bought me drinks occasionally taking me home when she thought I drank too much that sort of thing. Back then the woman situation would make a heck of a soap opera and it was sort of a wild west era in Wyoming. At any rate for reasons unknown to me he wanted to fight and I accepted, we go outside and duke it out for about 5 minutes and the dust storm really hits so we go back in the bar, drink til closing and sack out in our trucks. No hard feelings. I truly loved Wyoming like it was back then.
