After selling my own pre-64 Roberts on the Campfire a couple days ago, my hunting partner has asked me to sell his too.
It’s a very clean standard weight Model 70 chambered in .257 Roberts. Finish on both wood and metal is fully original. I would rate the rifle’s condition at 90%, but you should take a look at the photos provided and judge for yourself. There are no extra holes, no glass bedding, or other alterations.
There is some thinning of the blueing from carry on the rifle’s floor plate, a couple minor thin spots on the top of the barrel, and a few minor nicks and pressure marks on the walnut stock, but all in all the gun is in remarkably nice condition for being 70 years old. The checkering is sharp, and the gun’s bore is excellent. The original steel bird’s beak butt-plate is in fine shape, and the rifle’s front sight hood is intact. The rear sight has been replaced with a more recent folding sight, and the original sling bows have been replaced with sling studs.
The rifle is fitted with a set of vintage two piece scope bases and rings, and it’s equipped with a very clean vintage long tube Leupold M8 4X scope with a duplex reticle.
The price for the rifle, bases and rings is $1900 plus $50 shipping in the lower 47 (sorry, no California sales). Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii at cost. If you’d like the Leupold scope, add $200.
Payment by US Postal Money Order.
The rifle must be shipped to an FFL dealer. If your dealer requires the gun to be shipped from an FFL dealer on my end, add $50 to the purchase price.
The rifle will be carefully packed and shipped via UPS in a hard case.
Thanks for looking. If you have any questions, just ask.
