I got a cow tag in Wyoming and shot a big cow first day with 160 grain Nosler Partitions, Win 270. The bullet broke bones in the neck and the cow flopped over. Shot was 350 yards according to the Bushnell binocular range finder. Meat hanging and LEM Big Bite Big Bite #12 ordered. Shot it at dusk and it took until 10:00 PM to get it in the truck. Am very happy and looking forward to elk meat this winter.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Congrats on the cow! Sounds like the 270 and Partition struggled through another elk.. Good shooting.

Good eating! My cow hunt is the end of Dec. in NM.

Just north of Four Corners (towards Sundance) in a walk-in area (not too far from New Castle). There was a large herd right on the edge of the walk-in-area in the far back corner of the walk in area. There was a nice bull, but my cow tag wouldn't fit well on him. I bought Onx for the hunt, but there was poor phone service, I picked out & downloaded the walk-in areas when I had phone service. I arrived on Saturday late and hunted on Sunday. Next time I'll try to get maps from the state. I still have a buck tag and will head out on the 21st for a run at a Wyoming Buck. There were some large bucks I saw, but they seemed to know where hunting was not allowed.

Congratulations, elk meat is good eating. As Bear Claws (Will Geer) in Jeremiah Johnson said, "Don't understand why people down below eat pork when they can be eating elk."

I read some where that the 270 will no longer kill elk. Guess you proved them wrong. Congrats!
