Can't find anything about if and if so how much Shatner is getting paid for taking the space ride, but a few years back he did turn down a offer to go up in Branson's rocket because Branson wanted him to pay for it. Branson reportedly claimed Shatner refused because he was afraid of heights but Shatner said he refused because he was not so gullible as to risk his life and pay for it, too.

Shatner and the Blue Origin exec were "guests". The two others paid for the trip, but how much has not been revealed.

He’s back. Safe and emotionally impacted.
Good for him.

Isn’t the BO exec Shatner’s wife?

I know this is simplifying things, but to call them astronauts after basically going up in a massive estes model rocket for a few minutes and then right back down isn't as impressive as what Elon Musk is doing.

I agree with you, Remsen. The folks flying on that thing are passengers, not crewmembers. They have no possible input to the vehicle at any time. On the other hand, the all-civilian crew that recently flew aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon DO merit the title of astronaut. They all had mission duties, and the two pilots could have taken control if necessary.

Looks like a very functional design, roomy, set up for casual travelers.
