Local Cabelas got one in the used area. It looks original per the grips and everything else. Is $899 a good price? Not sure if the transfer bar had been added or not. It’s serial # is 30** so it’s one of the first. 2nd year.

They also have a single six from 1968 with both 22lr and 22mag that’s nice (to the right in the photo). And a 1959 357 Blackhawk for $359 but well used.

I’m thinking the $359 Blackhawk is the one I’d snag, but I use the heck out of my handguns. The others sound reasonable too in really nice shape.

If it's the one in the corner of the photo, it's $459.

If there really was a Blackhawk at $359 there's no way I would have made it out the door without it in my hand. And I'm not even a Ruger fan.

The $359 one is well used with lots of bluing loss. The $459 one is the single six. I ended up getting a pre-dash S&W Model 57 they had just put out when I went back this afternoon.

That was the right move, IMO, but then, I’m a S&W/.41 Magnum slut.

Just a few of the guns in their gun library are listed online. Mostly higher end stuff and factory direct new. They aren’t going to list cheaper guns or guns that will likely sell in store in a day or two. If you call the store they would likely ship it to your closest store or sell it to you over the phone. This particular store tends to get a lot of nice stuff traded in from estates.

Cabelas is a pretty decent source for used guns. The often have a decent selection of cool guns, and their prices are downright reasonable. If you see one you're interested, they'll transfer it to a store close to you so you can inspect it or buy it.

It’s not a “bargain”, but it’s certainly not a high price either.

Early Blackhawks in that condition are not cheap nowadays.
A Ruger Collector would want the box and paperwork to be with it at that price.

If you want it, just buy it. You’ll not regret it.

And one of that year of mfg won’t lose any value in today’s market. It’ll only go up.

I looked them over and even the cheaper one seemed good mechanically and with a good bore. It just isn’t as nice (has quite a bit of bluing loss). Timing was good on them and no gas cutting. Still had the original trigger/hammer. No transfer bar on either.

Unless some bonehead did some fanning work with it, it's pretty hard to mess up a Blackhawk, even the early ones were bull-strong. A few "character" marks don't hurt value in my eyes, but I'm like that, anyway.
