Let's see... We sent astronauts to the moon 52 years ago. The space shuttle began development in about '74. It's now 2021. So this is the best America can do? It seems as though we've regressed.
Really, I found it only mildly more impressive than the Testers model rockets I shot off when I was a kid. Doesn't seem all that impressive compared to what SpaceX is doing. The capsule seems to hit the ground pretty hard. It seems like they could fit some retro rockets to it to slow it down a bit more. Billionaire's bucket list item.

The capsule does fire small rockets just a couple feet off the ground to cushion the landing. That's where all the dust comes from.
The degree of ignorance displayed in this thread by some naysayers is appalling. Others are much better educated.

I watched the booster descend,, the flaps(so to speak) activate & then the chute. Awesome, right on target. Why not ? I fail to see or understand any negativity in this venture.
