Anyone own and hunt with one? I have hunted and competed with B/P guns flint and percussion for a long time. Thinking I may want one of these to hunt here in Pa, I passed up one a few years ago new at Dixons Could have saved a few dollars. Anyway anyone with experience with this gun what are your thoughts.

I sent a PM. Basically I had 2 of these. Both locks needed tuned because the springs were too strong and the geometry on the cock ate flints. My lock is at a lock expert getting a tune right now ( Cabin Creek - Brad Emig). So I hope it will be as smooth as my Mortimer. I had/have a lot of flintlocks in my life, and that Mortimer lock was the best. I have high hopes for the Jaeger. I put fold down rear sights, and a fiber optic on the front. Those really allow full use of the lolly pop tang peep. I drilled out the peep to 1/16 to get a better picture for my eyes.
Thanks again for the information and a tip of the hat to Kaywoodie for pointing me to the right guy. I am looking to pick up one of the regular models not the target version. Probably will send the lock out to have it tuned.

It’d be nice if they made one in 62 or 69 cal rifled
I think there is more than enough meat on the barrel to have it bored out. I had both the carbine and target version, and both would be better with a bigger hole for weight. Wish the barrel was swamped.
Brad Emig from Cabin Creek just called. He said the springs were too stiff, and the cock geometry was causing the sparks to go forward of the pan. He said for best performance he would have to replace the cock. Naturally that costs more, so he wanted for me to confirm that route. So he is ordering parts, so it will be a little delay in getting it back. I had a similar issue with a Davis lock. Funny they sell locks with bad geometry. That lock was a real pig until I had a real pro redo it all. Being quick to send back the jaeger lock will save me a bunch of frustration.
That answers another question. I was thinking that it would be nice to go big bore. By any chance does Cabin Creek offer that service? I do have a line on a custom jaeger however the length of pull is too long. The gun belonged to my late brother in law his wife is looking to sell it so that is one possibility. Talked to Greg Dixon today he believes that it can be shortened up the gun has a sliding patch box I have to get the rifle in hand and look it over. But I must say that Pedersoli with a tuned up lock bored out to shoot a 60 RB would be a deer killer for sure.

Top is a bit of a fantasy rifle I built with a maple stock and a .40 calibre barrel I had laying around.
Bottom is a more traditional rifle in .62 calibre.

I picked it up as a used rifle a few years back. Not a kit. Davis Jäger lock, Getz 31" Jäger swamped barrel. Someone put it all together from scratch.

Well I now have a Jager in hand .54 cal Getz swamped barrel The lock is a Davis. To the range tomorrow to try it out. Sparked the lock a few times its dumping the sparks into the pan we will see. This is the one I mentioned and as i thought it is a tad long. However it has no patch box so I believe i can get one of our local builders to shorten it and redo the butt plate. It is usable as is so that will wait till hunting is finished.
