I traded into a Ruger #3 rifle in 375 JDJ, looking for load info ect. Gun came with 50 loaded rounds so probly won't reload till winter.

That sounds like a great combination!
I had a 14" SSK Contender barrel 375JDJ that was accurate and effective but the recoil was more than my hands could take...
In a #3 that sounds like a better balance, less rude, still effective!
I'm curious what velocities you'll get with the longer barrel. I was able to get 2000fps with the 270gr Hornady in the 14" barrel.
P.S. someone has 375JDJ brass listed in the classifieds.

Bruce: Thanks for the data. I noticed out of the 7 bullets listed 4 of them are discontinued by Hornady. Sad really. The biggest problem with the 375 JDJ is finding a bullet that will expand at JDJ velocities. Most .375 bullets are designed with large dangerous came in mind. Some bullet makers show the velocity range they recommend for their bullets. If you look at the Nosler website they actually show pictures of their bullets at various velocities. 1800 fps is the lowest velocity most manufacturers recommend. If you compare the Partition and Accubond the Partition shows a little more expansion than the Accubond at 1800 fps. I load the Hornady 220 grain Flat Point (another discontinued Hornady bullet) for both pistol and carbine barrels. You might have better performance from bullets designed for the .375 Winchester or 38-55.

Sounds like a 200-250 grain hollow point cast bullet mold would be just the ticket.

Shot the #3 today, shot great at 50yrds, was only 39 temp. Hands go cold, so called it good! Had a 3/4 in group, looks like it's going deer hunting in 20 sleeps!

I had one of those as well many years ago and have to agree - very accurate as long as you can handle the recoil! I think those days are long gone for me, but would give anything to have back my 14" Contender 7x30 Waters
