I was walking with a guy at the dog park, he had a beautiful brindle pit mix , super friendly dog.
He called her his $12,000 pup because she swallowed a hair brush, it caused an obstruction, then a perforation, followed by an severe infection
when all was said and done the vet bill was $12K. The vet asked him on two separate occasions if he was sure he wanted to continue spending money in $3K chunks for surgeries and treatments.
He said he didn't hesitate.

Glad she pulled through surgery and it was just dumb puppy stuff, but keep an eye on her as she heels. Dogs can really process some "stuff" but then too, as AZmark said, twisted gut happens in certain breed/body types and does have a survival time clock on it.
Certainly not silly to ask for a prayer for an ailing dog. I'm pretty sure God may side with the dogs these days anyhow, we're not proving to be much...

Glad to hear he is on the mend. I had to put my dog down a week and a half ago, (woody) Puggle, Best dog I’ve ever had toughest damn thing I ever had to do. About six years ago during hunting season he throws up in my homeroom. I go over to clean it up and there is a deer hoof with a little bit of vomit. I can’t believe he swallowed it and I can’t believe he threw it up, he should’ve been dead. But that dog should’ve been dead many times :-) it took 16 years for him to paas, I miss that little guy.

Thanks for the support everyone. She got out of surgery at 0400 this morning. She likes to chew on stuff, the vet found part of a sock that was unravelling in her stomach and in her small intestine. The intestine had rolled over on itself but the vet says it was caught in time for no badness. They made two cuts one in the stomach and one in the intestine. I call them again today at 1700 to see if she can come home or stay another night under observation.
So...your prayers worked I'd say!!! 👍👍👍👍👍 Meatheads will chew and swallow just about anything. Glad she is doing better.

My heeler pup was puking constantly, till nothing came out but bloody water. Vet thought GI obstruction until she seen her. Tested positive for Parvo. It's been a long week of fluids, pills and forcing bone broth down the hatch. Yesterday was a turning point and she's actually showing some signs of life. She heeled me going thru the barn to do chores and grabbed her frisbee off the quad. Didn't feel up to playing fetch, just wanted to hold a toy and lay on the lawn.... She ate a little on her own last night and this morning. No poop for 4 days, but I'm expecting epic-ness soon... no parvo vax? Sick dog is stressful glad to hear you jumped on it and dog ok

Prayers for your pup. My wife dachshund blew out his back this weekend and required spinal surgery to the tune of over $6K when it is all said and done.

So...your prayers worked I'd say!!! Dang.... Sounds like some bad luck on the sock, but good luck on it not turning out worse. We quit giving our dogs rawhides because they'd eat the whole thing in no time and we were worried about obstructions. Glad to hear the vet fixed it!

Yep. Done. Sitting in the doggy er, while my 3 1/2 year old pup is sedated for xrays and i v hydration…seeing if she needs a surgery for gi obstruction.
I know it’s kind of stupid to ask cause she’s a dog, and many people have more important issues than this…but any prayers would be nice.

Thanks again everyone!! She is on my lap right now, post op day #1...sleeping off the pain meds and napping. It's a good day.
Oh and the total bill was $3,200 and totally worth it.
