I went to an fish fry last Saturday with a bunch of old friends and we got to talking about our experiences this past winter. One of the guys lives on Lake Buchanan and heats his whole house with his fireplace that's equipped with a big blower motor. He was without electricity for the duration of the cold spell and said he had to put wood in his fireplace every 2 hours around the clock to keep his wife sort pf happy. His son works for ERCOT so I asked him if all the problems they had found were fixed. He said none of them are fixed and the state hasn't even done the yearly inspections they are supposed to do. One of the biggest problems last winter was that Texas used a contractor to provide generators for the natural gas plants and they ran out of generators. They've had plenty of time to install generators at each natural gas plant but I don't know yet if they did. When I worked at AT&T we installed generators in each of the switching centers and also had portable generators if needed.

They get about a grand a night.
I'd rather die in a BAD gunfight than a GOOD nursing home.

They're supposed to manage our electric grid. ERCOT is what I meant.

It depends on the house. My place never got below 59 degrees inside while outside was single digits for days. Being connected to a slab/ground with insulation makes all the difference. I’d kick the propane buddy heater on whilst I ate dinner and watched DVD’s powered by lithium solar. Took hot showers too. I have 15gal water barrels in each closet too.
No self respecting outdoorsman or hunter thought that was “bad”.
I was like dang, I wish I could get it this cold in here during the summer for sleeping.
Likewise, my house would be survivable with box fans in the summer

ERCOT is responsible for taking hard earned money and telling you that TEXAS has the best independent power grid in the nation then when the chit hits the fan they turn into…
ERCUNT and run around with pink vagina hats blaming everyone else !
Another liberal failure

ERCOT used to be our grid alone but I think Bush might have got us into this mess. What Bush didn't screw up Obama did. All those thousands of wind turbines and solar panels didn't work. They can't work in weather like that. There wasn't any wind anyway. We've closed down hundreds of power plants. Surprise!! I think ERCOT's management is in California. What could go wrong?
I would've thought that after the mess we had last winter Abbott would've stepped up and done something about it. Apparently he still can't find the courage to do anything but bark.
