Years of good fortune ended when a thief took my Minox binocular. I left my truck unlocked and walked back down the boat ramp to help a fellow get his boat back on the trailer in a cross wind. The binocular was sitting on the seat and I'm lucky there wasn't anything else of interest.
Cameraland gave me a good deal on the Minox 8X33 when they were still made in Japan. Decent optics, compact and an easy view made this bino a favorite. The replacement will live in my truck so there will still be a risk of loss which eliminates the Kowa Genesis. I haven't shopped for optics for years and now there are brands I've never heard of and some established optics makers want me to pay the price for their reputation and produce the product in China. The replacement doesn't need to be a world class optical instrument but a binocular with a decent view that is durable is required. Suggestions on what to look at will be appreciated.

Take a look at the Kowa Genesis 8x33. Ask anyone who has one and you will become a believer

I have the minox 8 x32 and have used them for years. Not the most expensive by any means but very good light transmission. I recently bought the vortex vipers 8 x 32. My new favorite. Noticeable up grade in clarity and brightness.
