I had one of those back in the mid-80's that I boarded at my parent's home while I was going to grad school in Boston. That was still-hunting and half-a$$ed tracking, IOW short range work often at moving targets. I loaded 170 grain Remington RNCL 30-30 bullets at around 2,600 fps. The higher velocity, higher than the Remington 30-30 factory loads with that bullet, made for rapid expansion and a signifcant exit wound with a noticeable blood trail.

I have the same rifle only they drilled is for a peep sight and added a pad. I have t shot it yet but I have about 500 brand new cases for it. So I can enjoy it for a long time. Congrats on a nice rifle. Jeff

Bought a really mint m99f awhile back with a K4 60b series on it that came from vintage arms including the scope box which had a 499 price tag on it. Mb

Sadly, I passed up one of those a couple or three years ago, and I still regret that, even though I haven't got any need for it. It was ALMOST as nice as that one, that one is very nice indeed. I probably should have bought it, but I've got enough deer rifles to outlast me, as is.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.
