Shot this buck this evening. He came in 20 minutes aftwr a smaller buck came in. Between the deer calming spray and grunt tube calls I think I lured them in. Thanks everyone! This deer is definitely the heaviest one I ever shot. I'm not suppose to work this hard in retirement! Good thing it was a labor of joy.

I'm red/green colorblind so it's difficult to track deer, especially at night. My wife, who helped me set the stand I shot this deer from, drove my son to the woods to help me track it. His 9 y/o eyes are sharp and see colors vividly. It didn't take him long to tell me I was walking over blood. He was hot on the trail and walked to within 15ft of the deer in dense woods. I just stood up in a tiny opening and started to shine my headlamp around until I saw the buck's eyes reflect back. My son wasn't much helping dragging the deer but I finally got it out of the woods where I could tie it to the receiver hitch and drag it to a tree. I grunted my best Indiana buck in at last light several years ago, a 12ga. slug thru the chest made a bang flop of him no tracking required. Congrats on a dandy buck !
